The Scientific Method. Our class has been learning about the scientific method, aligned with the NYS Science Standards. We have had the opportunity to conduct many experiments throughout the school year, and we always use the scientific method prove whether or not our hypotheses are accurate. Science at Home: Sink or Float? For loads of fun on a Saturday morning, conduct your very one science experiment using the Scientific Method! Collect a bunch of household items that will not be destroyed if submerged in water. (Ex. bowl/plate, pencil, paperweight, paper scrap, paperclip, shaving cream, matchbox cars, legos.) Everyone can write down predictions on a piece of paper: What items will sink & what will float? After recording your hypothesis, conduct an experiment, record the data. Ask yourselves why did the sinkings items sink and why did the floating items float? Talk about what you discover!

In one of our science units, we learned about dinosaurs and their habitats. We even went to the Rochester Museum and Science Center to see the dinosaur exhibit (see pictures from our trip on the home page). Click on the yellow and green National Geographic Kids button above to learn more about dinosaurs!
