Who are we? Citizens in our world. This year in Social Studies, we are discussing the following topics: (click on any topic to learn more) geography, globalization, cultural diversity, leadership & government, children's rights, and global trade. In order to discuss these topics, we've begun by asking the question, "Who are we?" Students have had the opportunity to think of who they are as a member in their family, as a citizen in their country and in the world. In one Social Studies units, we focused on our family histories and students created family trees. (See pictures of students with their family trees on the home page.)
Good Citizens. |
In Social Studies, our students learn about what it means to be a good citizen, and to take care of the world around them. Every year, our class brainstorms different ways to help make our world a better place. This year our students decided to do a clean-up brigade in the park behind our school. On Tuesday, May 7th, our class gave up their recess time to make the park look beautiful. Way to go third graders, I'm so proud of you!
